Eels Vs Manly: Two Teams with a LOT to Prove.
April 18th 2008 05:10
The Eagles and the Eels will come face-to-face at Parramatta Stadium in what is expected to be a heated clash.
With rivalry entrenched histories, both teams will sport replicas of their original 1947 jerseys as they attempt to rectify their losing streaks in tonight’s Heritage Round.
With consistent leaks in their defense and attack, the Eels need to eliminate the amount of dropped balls, missed tackles and crucial penalty giveaways. They also need to recover from the sudden departure of their halfback, Tim Smith, and stop using him as a scapegoat for the reason the Eels have performed so poorly during this year’s Centenary season.
Manly, who started strongly last season are yet to mirror the dominance and consistency they possessed last season. Nor are they living up to the claims that they are resurrecting the club into one of the ‘powerhouses’ of the competition when they qualified for their 16th grand final last year.
Both teams have a lot to prove and both are thirty for a win.
Tonight’s clash will mark the start of the Heritage round and the team who triumphs will rescue themselves from a desperate situation.
