Folau Abandons Eye of the Storm.

Israel Folau abandons the very team who unveiled his talents to the world. His decision, although expected, still feels like a slap in the face to his teammates and more importantly- his fans.

Fans wanting to know more about the reason behind his betrayal are unable to do so because once again, he is unavailable for comment. Surprise, surprise. For the majority of last season he was placed on a media ban and this time round comes as no surprise. As a rule of thumb, every time fans want more, they end up getting less or nothing at all.

His reasons for leaving although understandable, does not distract from the fact that he once again cowers from the consequences of his actions.

Praised by teammate Matt Geyer for his high level of maturity and level-headedness, Folau - Rookie of the Year, Premiership Ring holder and Australian representative still needs the security blanket of those around him to shield him from the media’s wrath. Poor baby.

For someone who is highly regarded by teammates and fans alike, Folau unlike others his age requires special treatment and consideration...a dummy perhaps? Falling short of Mariah Carey’s diva demands, Folau’s tediously drawn out contract negotiations and inability to actually comment does bring him close.

Round 4 will see the ‘legendary’ Folau face his future team at Olympic Park this coming Friday. Whether or not he acknowledges his fan base is yet to be seen. He may not even be allowed to make eye contact, who knows?

He moved to be closer to his family. Money wasn't an issue at all. If anything, the Broncos offered him less than the Storm.

The Bronco's actually offered him more money (1.6 Million over four years), which the Storm weren't able to match because of salary cap restrictions. However, Folau's reasons for leaving were due to his family and religion.
