Shaping into one of the Spiciest Games of the Season - Storm Vs Bronco’s match review
April 3rd 2008 06:26
Storm hosts unbeaten Broncos at Olympic Park on Friday night in what is shaping up to be one of the spiciest games of the season.
Melbourne has not faced three back to back losses since 2002 and Brisbane have not won four straight beginning of the season games since 2003.
Both teams are producing near star studded line ups and have a lot to prove. In recent years the relationships between the two teams have been strained, even more now that Storm have lost their discovered prized gem, Israel Folau to the Broncos after months of anticipation and waiting.
Regardless of Melbourne’s scratchy start to the season, the team still possesses the depth and skill to bring the house down, despite having lost two back-to-back games.
Even though the Storm have conceded back-to-back defeats, it should be remembered that have done so by a minuscule margin and should not be underestimated by the polished Broncos side.
Brisbane having scored most of their tries from line breaks have the discipline and game plan to beat Melbourne. However, they first need to slice through the Storm’s unbreakable defense if they plan on a high scoring contest.
The match day squad for the Storm is as follows:
Starting team:
1. Billy Slater
2. Steve Turner
3. Will Chambers
4. Israel Folau
5. Anthony Quinn
6. Greg Inglis
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Jeff Lima
9. Cam Smith ©
10. Adam Blair
11. Jeremy Smith
12. Ryan Hoffman
13. Dallas Johnson
Interchange:
14. Matt Geyer, 15. Antonio Kaufusi, 16. Sika Manu, 17. Clifford Manua
Coach: Craig Bellamy.

I am going to stick with your Storm in this one - while the Broncos are undefeated so far, they will be travelling to Olympic PArk minus the attacking prowess of Hodges and Marsh, and maybe Lockyer. That's a big chunk out of Brisbane's attacking arsenal!
The Storm may have lost to the Roosters last week, but the Roosters dominated field position and possession, and the Storm were left to continuously ruck it out from iside their 20m zone.
I think the Storm will bounce back, and win by about 6 points!
Cheers,
StephenP,
P.S. - Good stuff Anushka!
